Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain -Author Unknown

It poured and poured and showed no mercy on us for Katherine & Craig's Rhode Island Wedding. That didn't stop us from rockin' it out though!  We are becoming quite the experts on shooting in the rain this year, and lucky for us, our couples are amazing and adventurous. A huge storm rolled in on the East coast the day before their wedding and as I went out and looked at the magnificent Atlantic ocean that morning the waves were good 7-10 footers in many places. I always have a smile in my heart for people who have outdoor weddings planned and it pours... it always reminds me of Chris and I's wedding day which was very much the same.

We were so excited to work with our friends Ben Potter & Drew Barefoot who did some killer video for Katherine & Craig as well. Cana Video & The Rhoads make a bomb team! My favorite parts about shooting in the rain is when we end up in funny situations stuck under umbrella's together soaking wet with deep belly laughing :) It makes me smile to even think about it. As Chris's pants were soaked through to his boxers, and Drew, Chris and I were stuffed under one umbrella trying to get the perfect shot in the pouring rain it was a moment of pure joy and complete craziness.

I am so thankful for Katherine & Craig's spirits. They were happy and so excited to be getting married. The day was a blast! These two got married right outside of Newport at a beautiful waterside venue called Castle Hill. These two are wonderful, gentle and beautiful people.

What a blast this wedding was! I was so inspired by Katherine & Craig's happiness, despite the rain, that I am going to buy a pair of rain boots for my own wedding--just in case!

Not sure if they knew about the weather or not but how COOL is it that a bride ( a female period) can just go with the weather on her big day. I would probably praise the Heavens if it rained on my wedding day! There is nothing more awesome than embracing the change life throws your way.

You did yet another beautiful and awesome job Sarah. Thanks for sharing!

Who says you can't shoot in the rain? :) It poured on Katie & Thaddeus's wedding day, but that didn't stop us! It rained on Chris and I's wedding day, and like Katie & Thaddeus, we too, were supposed to have an outdoor ceremony that was moved indoors. I think the rain only adds character, life, story and personality. By the end of Katie & Thaddeus's wedding day my Tom's shoes were soaking wet which was a sign of a fun adventure.

One of my very favorite things about our couples is they are usually up for anything and they really value their photos. They see life as an adventure to be had- even if that means heading out into the pouring rain sporting a beautiful Vera Wang dress :). But that is just the type of people Katie & Thaddeus are. They laugh through life, don't take things too seriously and are absolutely 100% authentic. Hanging out with them is like being with friends you have known your whole life. Their families were the same way. This day was so much fun. It has Pacific Northwest written all over it.

Katie was super smart and got us some really cute umbrella's to play with from Bella Umbrella. I highly recommend these fabulous little umbrellas if there is a chance of rain on your wedding. They really saved us in a pinch and allowed us to work outside despite the rain and still keep everything fabulously dry and added a touch of style.

Dress: Vera Wang
Umbrellas: Bella Umbrella

Erin & Jason got married among the mountains. I wouldn't see them getting married any other way. These two love being in nature. They decided to have their wedding in North Cascades National Park in Washington because Erin & Jason had both spent so much time together there. There is only one thing that Erin and Jason love more than being outdoors and that is one another :)

Erin and Jason are so in tune with one another it was really a gift to be able to capture a love like theirs. It is honest, deep, emotional and vulnerable. They bear it all to one another. It's really beautiful to see in a couple and very fun to capture.

Chris and I had never been out this deep into the Cascade mountain range and it was really breathtaking. The lake that we photographed in one of these images really was that bright teal color. It was unreal. The more time I spend in Washington the more I realize that it really is one of the most beautiful places out there. I feel fortunate to call this place home and look out my window and see this awesome mountain range from afar everyday.

Andrea & Jeremiah are salt of the earth, amazing, amazing people! Andrea is hands down the sweetest person I have met in my life. Jeremiah is a super talented designer with a great sense of humor. These two decided to tie the knot at a private estate in Maui with 18 of their closest friends and family. It was intimate, easy going and beautiful on so many levels. We felt so honored to be there with them.

As most of you know, Maui is fantastic. The sunsets are unreal and the weather is pretty much perfect. Not my usual shooting conditions here in Seattle ;) So Chris and I were like little kids in a candy store. These two got married on a cliff overlooking the ocean with the wind whipping all around them. For their reception they seated their guests at one giant long table. It was like a big thanksgiving dinner with all the people they loved most in the world. There was something so comforting about it, like everyone was "family." Intimate events are my favorite kind to photograph. You know that every person who is there is so meaningful to the couple.

There are some clients who truly become friends.... Andrea & Jeremiah are people we feel thankful to call friends. They are beautiful people. Enjoy!
