Heather & Mitch are America's Sweethearts :) They have hearts of gold. They are gracious, kind and love life and people and appreciate a good dose of sarcasm which I love. Chris and I felt so honored to be a part of their December wedding. It was our last wedding of the year and was such a great way to end the year! These two have become friends to us through this whole process and we just adore them.

Although the sun was out for their wedding day, the winter greeted us with all it's blustery cold, so Heather rocked her grandmother's fur coat and Mitch wore an awesome tailored suit that made him look like James Bond ;) These two looked like they stepped off a movie set. Totally gorgeous with a little old school charm.

Chris and I felt so honored to be a part of this celebration with two lovely people we now call friends. Enjoy the beautiful and charming, Heather & Mitch!

Katie & Jordan got married on a beautiful (and rare) sunny Saturday in December. I knew it would be an exceptionally good day when I woke up and peeked out my window to see the sunshine pouring into the room. It may have been cold but it sure was beautiful. We met Jordan through our friend Nick Onken a couple of years ago and hit it off immediately. Jordan is the type of guy that can get along with anyone. He has exceptional taste, a warm heart and a deep appreciation for travel & art. At the time we met Jordan he was single and would be a catch to any girl.

Skip to a few months later: we all go to dinner together and Jordan brings this beautiful girl named Katie that he met in yoga class. She is elegant, charming, poised, funny and smart.... and a catch for any guy ;) They fell in love quickly and the rest is history. What I love about their story is these two beautiful people who would be considered "catches" in every sense of the word held out for their perfect little fish in this larger than life pond and found one another. I just love when that happens.

Katie & Jordan are probably laying on the beach somewhere in Thailand drinking Mai Tai's right now. I'm a little envious... it is one of my favorite places in the world. Enjoy a little taste of Katie & Jordan's special day.

There are just not enough nice words in the dictionary to describe the wonderfulness that is Kate & Nick. These two are about as good as it gets; they are salt of the earth people who are generous, kind hearted, humble, funny, quirky, creative, spirited and madly in love. It's been so fun to get to know these two love birds... we have made two really amazing friends through this whole process and feel so grateful to have been able to tell their story.

Nick is the bass player in Death Cab for Cutie & Kate is a designer extraordinaire. It's just too much talent for one little couple!! Their wedding was a true reflection of all of the abundant creativity each of them posses! Bella Signature Design  incorporated some super quirky and fun succulents into the day's decor, and Kate (the bride) set the tone for the entire event with her fantastic wedding invite designs incorporating a heart and anchor. These two also had us do a Smilebooth for them that was so totally fun. There was just so much about this day that made you see life through the eyes of Kate & Nick. It was full of playful whimsy, imagination and quirk.

One of my favorite moments at this wedding was right after Kate & Nick's ceremony. They stepped into a little corridor, the only sound was the rain was hitting the window. It was a dark room but there was just the most beautiful light outlining the two of them sharing a perfect moment. They were both overwhelmed with emotion and they just leaned their foreheads together embracing the weight of what just took place. It was simply beautiful and precious. simply honest. I felt overwhelmingly happy. It's so apparent these two have found the perfect person in the world for them....like two puzzle pieces.... and for that I have to smile real big... like one with all of my teeth showing  :)

Marissa & Andrew are beautiful people. They are a perfect example of how opposites attract. It's so adorable to see them together. Marissa is bubbly, fiery, sassy, passionate and full of life and charisma.... she could be my sister ;). Andrew is grounded, intelligent, witty and smart. These two are like peanut butter and jelly. They just work!

Their wedding day was such an honest and beautiful reflection of their incredible unity. It was at times romantic and serious and at other moments, very playful. It was on Halloween which statistically has not been a sunny day in Seattle for years. But this year, the sun broke through the clouds and it was radiant. It put a big smile on my face. These two deserve all the sunshine in the world. They sure are a bright spot in my life as well as many others. We feel grateful they shared their day with us. After the wedding Marissa wrote us a note that made me cry. It was one of those moments that reminded me of all of the reasons why we do this... here is a bit of the beautiful note:

"Sarah and Chris-- I don't think it's possible for two people to have the slightest clue surrounding the colossal size of their talent.  As much as I want to say it's a gift, I can't.  In my heart of hearts this is exactly what you're supposed to be doing.  Your gentle souls, pushes of a button, eyes of the sea, are here to capture unspoken moments and tell stories that no one else can. You two are here to move people. You are here to remind people of the deep connections in family, love, friendships and life. You are not just photographers, you are storytellers. You are illustrators.  You are artists. You are teachers. You are creatives whose tank is never full (thank you god) and whose vision is never blurred. As I have told you before, I wish 'Thank You' had a more fancy ring to it. Sarah and Chris, thank you for everything. Thank you for it all. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your direction.  Thank you for your calm voices.  Thank you for going going and going. Thank you for capturing the most special moment of mine and Andrew's life together and telling our story.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you Rhoads'
Marissa"

This note meant the world to me. Thank you Marissa and Andrew for being wonderfully, beautifully, you.

Your photos will be a constant reminder to us of "this wondrous day in our lives" by capturing and preserving the "feelings of the moment". As parents we will always have the images of this wonderful wedding in our heads; but you have captured not only images, but also the spirit of these two wonderful young adults as they celebrate their commitment to one another. Beautiful couple in every way.
