Laura & Ryan are so special :) Laura teaches photography to high-schoolers and Ryan is a musician.  So they share some of our favorite passions and interests in life, which is just one of the many reasons why we adore them :).  They are old souls, rich with passion and selfless with their affections. More than anything, when I think about them, I think of tenderness. There is a frame in this set of images that to me, speaks entirely to who they are as a couple. It is the black and white image where their hands are all entangled and heart is just pouring out of it. It turns me to mush...
Another thing that turned me to mush on their big day was Laura's dad. His pride in his daughter was so evident. He was in tears for a lot of the day....I love to see dads and daughter's have the kind of relationship that Laura and her dad have with one another. They are rare and to be cherished.

Laura and Ryan got married at Sodo Park and had a Jewish ceremony with some modern twits that were reflective of them :) It was so much fun! They also had a PartyBooth at their wedding and I'll post a few frames of those in a post to come. I also want to give a shout out to Laura and Ryan's Day of coordinator, Laura Gram for being so helpful and to the DJ, Leslie of Seattle Parties for throwing a great party for these two! And to Florist, Christopher Flowers for the great florals at the event.

Laura & Ryan we feel honored to have captured your special day and to call you friends :) We hope you are having fun gallivanting around Italy on your honeymoon!

Wow the one with her parents lifting her veil is soo beautiful! And how come they remind me of Alice and Jasper...or maybe that's just because I'm reading Twilight right now. he he he....either way they are a good looking couple!

So many things I like about the images in this set. I love the wrings on the note. I like the couple holding the Polaroid of themselves--hiding their faces. I like the mother, in the background, wiping a tear, as the father hugs the bride.

"Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh." -W.H. Auden

That quote completely sums up how I feel about Leda & Jonathan. I don't think I have ever laughed harder in my life with a couple. It feels soo good to laugh, I mean who doesn't just love that euphoria you get after a good bottom-of-you-stomach laugh? Well, that is the kind of laughter these two have with one another. One thing that I've noticed in couples who have had long and successful marriages is that they still laugh with one another. When I think about Leda and Jonathan fifty something years from now, I picture a cute little 80 year-old couple cuddled up in the corner of a bustling party giggling :). Joy just ebbs from them and their natural charisma rubs off on everyone who comes into contact with them... It makes it VERRY difficult not to absolutely adore them.

These two had their reception at an amazing, modern and stylized hotel in Tacoma, Hotel Murano. It was a totally inspiring setting, with lots of loving family and one of the most killer wedding party's ever! Chris even busted out the Polaroid for a lot of this wedding and I have posted a few here in the blog. We feel very blessed to have played a special role in your day Leda & Jonathan, thank you for treating us like family ;) You are true friends.

I know I speak for all the Burkes (Matt, Pat, Kelsey, Chris, Jo, Gabe and Liam) We LOVE you and our hearts are filled with JOY !

Kim & Christian were married at one of the most magical places in all the land... Cannon Beach, OR. I did a personal post while we were there that describes my complete and utter obsession with the place. It was a true honor to shoot Kim & Christian there. It is my Narnia ;) I think each person needs a Narnia and Cannon Beach just happens to be mine.

The fog wrapped us all in it's whimsical bliss that day. It was perfect. Kim & Christian were perfect. Their love for one another is so innocent and tender. They had an incredible wedding right on the beach in front of Haystack Rock. I always love when our couples do something a little different than the "norm" for their big day. It always adds a lot of character and life to the day. It was one of those kick-off-your-shoes-and-feel-the-sand-between-your-toes kind of day. It was relaxed, romantic and beautiful just like Kim & Christian.

There is not much better than spending my day "at work" in my 'Narnia' with my hubby by my side, my shoes kicked off listening to the sound of the ocean break with two people totally in love :)

Enjoy the loveliness that is Kim & Christian...

Couples that are able to project themselves are a photographer's dream ;). Angela & Elliott are a couple who are able to do that so beautifully. You will immediately get a feel for Angela's passion for life and Elliott's tender and kindhearted spirit. These two are "life-lovers," who embrace the people around them with vulnerability and compassion. I love that about them. They are the kind of people who invite people in.... the kind of people who let their guard down and risk bearing their heart and souls to those in their lives because they know that the rewards are worth it ten-fold.

I really admire Angela & Elliott. They are truly fantastic parents of their little baby girl, Alexis (the darling little one with the white dress in the photos). It was so obvious why Angela is such a great mom when we saw her relationship with her parents. Her dad danced her down the isle with tears streaming down both of their faces.... it was truly beautiful.

These two got married in Lake Chelan, WA and had a backyard wedding on Elliott's parent's vineyard/house. The views were breathtaking! It was our first time to Lake Chelan and now I want to go back every summer. But next time, on our way home, I'd rather not total our car haha.... We were in a three car pile up and little Bessy (our white civic) died that day. It made for an "interesting" adventure. We're now on the car hunt... I think we have decided on a 3rd Generation Toyota Prius... they are pretty RAD.
Okay... enough about me... onto the goodness that is Angela and Elliott...

Sarah & Chris,

Wow...these photos have left me speechless. Thanks so much for capturing the true feel of our wedding day. When on the hunt for the perfect photographer to shoot our wedding, If asked, I would have said that I wanted someone who would make it so we could go back to that time and place 10, 20, 30 years out. You did just that! Looking at these images allowed me to relive the day all over again.

I appreciate the two of you in more ways than one, your zest for love, life and your work is very evident and magnetic to those who are in your presence. I look forward to following your work over the years and having you capture more of our family memories.

Much love,
Elliott, Angela & Alexis Wood

I love the photo of the actual ceremony taken from up high. The exposure is perfect. It seems like it would be hard to get the shadows and highlights that even though. I've noticed how well balanced a lot of your photos are even in direct sunlight... you don't process any of those in HDR format do you?

I've been looking at your work for well over a month. Your blog layout first intrigued me...but the overall quality of your work is literally stunning! I shoot as well but not professionally.

I just wanted to pass along my thoughts.

Keep up the amazing work!
