I couldn't wait till tomorrow to share a few frames from Emma and Bubba's shoot.
So here is a little sneak peek from their shoot at the Ace in Seattle. A big shout out to our fantastic makeup artist/hair stylist extraordinaire Tiffany Lowry for making our sweet Emma and Bubba look even more fantastic and for bringing the fun :)

We shot these when it was already dark out in a room at the Ace with no windows so we used a quick one light set up and a 60-inch umbrella. Luckily our Polaroid 600SE, otherwise known as the GOOSE, has a flash synch.. coming in very handy in these type of situations.

More images to come from this ultra fun shoot bright and early tomorrow morning...

What a better way to start your day than with a little Mad Men!? Lisa & her family used that fabulous little show as the inspiration behind the styling and feel of their family shoot with us. The 1960's was a unique and fascinating time for fashion. I love the pencil skirts and pouf-style dresses from that era... they look so elegant and feminine. And those dapper three piece suits and sexy hats for the guys?! oh my, make me melt!

I love it when people take the initiative and want to do something a little different for their sessions. It was one of the many reasons the Dunham family was so fun to photograph! We romped around little nooks and crannies of downtown Seattle in an area I had never shot before and the light was tasty-beautiful. Lisa is a stellar photographer out of Tulsa, who also shot our wedding, and was visiting some friends in Seattle. She said that the three of them hadn't ever had any photos together! So we definitely had to change that for them and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Also, there are quite a few things that are still on the "blog-dock" if you haven't seen your shoot/wedding/session... it is coming... and it will be well worth the wait :)

Sarah & Chris - I'm sure it's not appropriate or polite to comment on our own session but.... WE LOVE THESE IMAGES! I became a photog partly so I could always be behind the camera and NEVER in front of it. I just knew I wanted you two to shoot us b/c you would "get" us. You so did. You two were wonderful and we had a great time with you in downtown Seattle. Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful piece of our lives to have forever. Kate thinks she's darling (ok, she is) and I'm afraid Jay's head might get too big for his hat! Thanks again and many blessings to you both!

As you may have noticed, we are currently swimming in engagement sessions/lifestyle shoots, so we are working hard trying to get things turned around and edited, hence the mass amount of shoots hitting the blog. Jessica & Colin are one of our fantastic 2010 couples. We are soo thrilled to have them as a part of the Sarah Rhoads Family for next year! They are fun, playful, lovable, passionate, kind, funny & adventurous. I just love being around them. They just have those infectious personalities that draw you in. It's hard not to love them.

I have a lot of favorites in this set of images... the light was just perfect and so were my sweet subjects. I feel like the set really captures the different dynamics of Jessica & Colin's relationship.... from funny and fun to passionate and romantic. It's always so important that we capture those different authentic facets of a couple, the "edges and curves" that make them truly unique. One thing I love about what we do is that every day is different and no couple is just alike. Love finds interesting and beautiful ways of manifesting itself and it sure does make my life more exciting.

On another note, I thought I would share one of our favorite business blogs with those of you interested. It is Seth Godin's Blog who is one of our favorite Marketing Guru's. His book Purple Cow was pivotal in developing our new brand when it rolled out last December. His blog is full of little gems of wisdom.

"Love: a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brian, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker."

Kylie & John are some fun photographers who commissioned Chris and I to capture them for their wedding anniversary this year! It is always so fun to shoot photographers, most time's they LOVE exactly what we do and just trust us to capture them as they are. Kylie and John have known each other since high school and then ended up getting married two years ago. They have that playful kind of love that reminds you of being a kid. Youthful love is fun love.

We went out to the area that they live and have fond memories of growing up together. They made us laugh a LOT during the session. I am a firm believer that couples who laugh together, stay together :). Kylie has always been one of those sweet and faithful blog readers who leaves us thoughtful and encouraging messages so it was so fun to finally meet her in person!

I would love for Chris and I to get photos done by a different one of our photographer friends every year... just to be able to look back and see the different seasons of our lives together and watch as the wrinkles develop from laughing, smiling and just LIFE happening. It was fun to capture "life" happening for these two... what a neat couple they are.
