My friend Tiffany and I are always dreaming up new collaborative projects to execute together. This was one that was birthed in the mind of Tiff about a month ago and it involved her laundry room, half naked people and clothes hanging from a clothesline. We had a lot of fun seeing all this come to life. This was such a unique concept for a shoot and I really love how it all came together in her basement laundry room. We worked in about a 4ft by 7ft space so this was very different from my typical style of shooting where I run around every which way chasing people and rolling around on the ground. I really loved the conceptual challenge of people being hooked up to something and only being able to shoot them from certain angles where the clothing looked like it was on them.

Sometimes I think it is really good for us to put confines on ourselves with our shooting. It forces us to think in a different way when we put limitations on things. Whether it is as simple as shooting indoors when you are used to shooting outdoors or having your models be pinned to a clothes line in a small room where you can't move much. All of it is a healthy challenge!

Pretty sure I am wishing that I was soaking up the warmth of this scene right about now. There have been times recently I have seriously contemplated curling my body into fetal position and rolling into our fireplace just to get warm... I think it is the only warm place in our entire house right now. desperation is beginning to set in :)

We shot these two about a month ago while we were in Maui shooting the wonderful The Odette family. We teamed up with the fabulous Tiffany Lowry for hair/makeup and some subtle styling for this shoot. Bela & Melissa are best friends and are both surfers so we really wanted to capture just a glimpse into their world. Surfing runs in these girls blood, in fact, Bela's dad is surfing legend, Laird Hamilton

We had a blast following these girls around for a couple hours, jumping off cliffs, and just being silly girls... I think Chris must have felt a little left out but us girls sure did have fun. Enjoy some sunshine!

My dear friend Marissa is going to be launching her album in the coming months so she asked us if we would take some images for album and promo purposes. Marissa is what I like to call a Renaissance woman, she is brilliant at whatever she puts her mind to and her EP is going to be nothing shy of greatness.

I discovered Marissa had an incredible voice after months of singing way too loud to music while I edit... me? I am the person who wishes I was a singer, but alas. One day Marissa was singing right along with me and I noticed she was hitting really beautiful harmonies... something I have never been able to do. Marissa is so the type to not mention the fact that she has the voice of an angel and just let me casually sing my heart out in the worst way possible. She is just sweet like that. I suddenly felt a little silly with the new knowledge that I was singing among such talent.

Her songs are full of heart, soul, quirk, humor and a little romance.... very much like Marissa herself. They are simply beautiful. The record should drop sometime in the next couple of months and I'll do a post about it when it does so you can all get your hands on one. Just thought I would share a few frames from our shoot with Marissa a couple of weeks ago. She was the first person we ever shot in our home... it felt appropriate since she has such a special place in our hearts.

These are our sweet friends Koes, Lindsey & Aven. We took a trip down to Portland earlier this year and Koes messaged me on twitter while we were there. We met them and it turns out we had some cool things in common! They both lived in Oklahoma for a time like us and Chris actually went to school with Lindsey's little sister.

These guys came up to Seattle a couple of weeks ago for a little getaway and a shoot with us. We had a blast. I don't know that I have ever met a baby so darling. Little Aven is precious. I'm not typically one for shooting the little babies... I stick to three year olds and up, but Aven was just smitten with the camera and she went easy on us :) Koes is a photographer as well so as Lindsey said, I think Aven thinks her dad IS a camera with as much as he is photographing her. I had to kind of chuckle... one day (a long time from now) when we decide to have kids they are in MAJOR trouble.

Also, I wish that they made giant sleeping bags for adults to spend all day in. I might live in one. Aven's got the right idea. Happy Friday!
