Katie & Thaddeus are the real deal. These two are down to earth and love each other with that "grow-old-with-you-enduring-kind of-love" it's really cute. Meeting these two for the first time was like a coffee date with old friends, it just flows with them. There is nothing pretentious about these two, and I think that is what I love most about them. They are honest, natural, authentic and loyal. There isn't a package of attributes that gets much better than that.

We went out last week for their engagement session and Seattle decided to bless us with it's sunshiny bliss. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spring day. Everything is in bloom right now in Seattle and it is absolutely yummy. I love this time of year as the color starts to glimmer through in the shape of spring flowers. Everything is starting over. I have always loved change and Spring and Fall are the seasons when the change happening around us cannot be ignored. Chris and I lived in Hawaii for a bit while we were in college and one thing I learned about myself while living there was that I NEED seasons. In Hawaii it was consistently beautiful 75 degrees and sunny.  I really missed the changing seasons so now I am always extra thankful for them :).

Looking forward to shooting your beautiful Fall wedding Katie and Thaddeus!

Your photos are truly, AWE-some, Sarah! They capture the true essence of this couple. They exude that deep inner peace, contentment, and love that surrounds Thaddeus & Katie. (Since I'm the little sister of the groom, I can attest to witnessing this in person!) Yet, each photo is truly unique and gorgeous artwork. I especially love the initial cuddle shot!

Quinn & Jeff were the models for our mentor session shoot with Rensche. Quinn mentioned that she had her grandmother's old fur coat so we decided to incorporate a little 'old hollywood' flare into this shoot. These two are getting married this summer and hadn't yet had engagement photos done so it worked out great to have them model for this mentor session shoot! We went to the old elementary school down the street from our house for this mini shoot and it was the perfect backdrop.

Typically when we do our mentor session shoots Chris and I shoot for the first 20 minutes or so and then we let the mentoree hop in, direct and get some snaps of their own. It was so neat to see the way that Rensche interacted with Quinn & Jeff. What stood out the most is how true she was to herself and her personal style and approach. She was confident, funny and totally comfortable in her own skin.... I really saw her come alive when she shot. It was really neat to see.

These are a few of our captures from the shoot. If you have any interest in modeling for one of our upcoming mentor sessions please feel free to e mail a photo and a little bit about what makes you interesting to consulting@sarahrhoads.com

Happy Friday and have a great Easter weekend everyone!

Love that guys suit.. We have seriously lost this great classic sense of great style.. I love old vintage 1930's and 1940's great styles. The vest the pinstripes.. Ladies used to wear those incredibly beautiful hats with the netting on them or the ones with the feathers. Love this set of photos just based on the stylist on this shoot.. Many forget that a photographer is only as good as those "around" them. With out those around them they can be just another photographer.. The make up artist and stylist are what take the photographer to the next level and really shine..

Jenn and Matt are America's Sweethearts :). The thing that struck me the most about these two when we first met was how much they just adore one another. They take care of each other, and laugh at each others jokes, Matt cooks for Jenn. It's really sweet to watch. Jenn is gentle, nurturing, warm and so kind hearted and Matt is funny, driven and loving. They make a great match.

In other news, this has been a crazy couple of weeks so I am saying TGIF! Tomorrow we look forward to sleeping in a bit and rolling out of bed around 9:00 and heading up to Macrina bakery for some world famous oatmeal. We will be embracing one of our last Saturday's off before season kicks into full gear. I can't wait. I've got so many ideas and so much energy right now. Ever notice how the more energy you exude into the things you love the more you have? Energy and ideas work the same. The more ideas you let bounce around in your universe the more we seem to have. So many things are cyclical. Ideas breed more ideas.... Energy breeds more energy... Success breeds more success. Is'nt that fascinating? I think so anyway. It forces me to think about the kind of cycles I'm creating in my life. Because on the other side of that, negativity breeds more negativity and so on and so forth. I try not to let those things enter my creative cycle. They only bring me down and stop my momentum. Keeping a positive creative momentum and cycle is crucial but it's something that I've learned you have to be intentional about. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Hope and Joel are like a breath of fresh air... a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. These two are quirky, fun and creative. They met in High School but didn't actually start dating until college. Hope went to school in NYC and Joel was on the other side of the country. I always admire couples whose love can persevere through distance. Joel is a very talented video producer and Hope is one of those creative, smart and funny ladies that could really do anything she wants in life.

You know those people you can sit down over coffee with and forget about time all together? That is Hope and Joel. I think that is because the four of us share very similar perspectives on life. All of us believe in running after our passions and living the full life, perusing joy, creative expression and loving others better. We all believe in the ADVENTURE of it all... and I'm slightly smitten with people who see the bigger picture like that because it often seems like they are the minority. But life is an adventure to be lived. We must know who we are, see what we want and run after it. We love these two and are so excited for their wedding in May!!
