Meet Marissa & Andrew and their two little fuzzy-headed-friends, Dundee and Jackie-O. These four are so much fun. Marissa's laugh and joy lights up a room. Marissa is a 5' 2'' little one with a big personality and a lot of love to give. Andrew is solid, he's grounded, smart and witty. Andrew proposed to Marissa on their two year anniversary weekend. He's one of those romantics that pulls out all the stops. He surprised Marissa with a Seaplane ride from Seattle over to Roche Harbor, they spent the day walking around and stumbled upon a beautiful meadow that spread out for miles... and that's where Andrew proposed, right there in that glorious little meadow of love :) I love it when guys do thoughtful things to propose... nothing makes a girl feel more special. I think the thing that is most endearing about these two is their mutual love and respect for one another. They are more than just soul mates they are best friends.

Hair/Makeup for Marissa: Tiffany Lowry

I leave with my best friend today for a surprise trip to Palm Springs, CA! It's Chris's Birthday tomorrow so I planned a secret get away behind his back. Don't worry, he knows now and we're about to hop on a plane. I've heard such great things about The Ace in Palm Springs and I cannot wait to just cuddle up with my boo and spend a few days exploring a new landscape together.

My Dearest Team Rhoads - thank you are two words with a massive meaning. In all honesty, I don't have fancy enough words in my vocab that properly relay how much joy excitement appreciate and gratitude these images bring to us. THANK YOU is all I've got for now. Fingers crossed in 6 mths I'll have more ;) Happy Birthday CR!

Sarah I LOVE this session!!!!!!

Vizcara says: Tuesday, April 20, 2010, 03:05 PM

Okay the 4th photo of the dog in your "Face" on the grass rocks.. I love that one.. But more than anything the 2nd to the last with couple in front of the tree is the most solid image. Because it represents "Strength, Roots, Something that stands the test of time" all that is said in that image which is a great thing to see when a couple is joining in a life long adventure such as "Marriage" ...

Andrea & Jeremiah are both so incredibly talented. These two work and live in the creative sandbox of life. Andrea is a very talented graphic artist and Jeremiah has quite the knack for interactive design. These two are rich with soul and spirit, spending time with them is truly a gift. Chris and I walked away from their session feeling on top of the world. Andrea and Jeremiah just have the ability to make you feel like a million bucks.

I always love when our couples come up with ways to express their own personal style through their engagement session. Jeremiah has been using his hands to make old cars beautiful gems since he was a kid, so they thought it would be fun to bring one of the vintage cars to their engagement session. I felt like a little kid in a candy shop.... If I lived inside my dream world I would definitely have a baby blue vintage ride as my car of choice :) I would drive around with the wind in my hair blasting some Alexi Murdoch with the windows down and I would sing like no one was listening. The other day I was sitting outside having some tea at my favorite tea shop and this guy drove by with his top down on his convertible, he was stopped at a stop sign and was signing Frank Sinatra at the top of his lungs, it was the way you sing in the shower when no one else is within miles. It was free and full of joy. He didn't give a damn who was listening, he did what brought him total and complete joy in that moment and to me, it was beautiful. So that's how I would sing in my baby blue vintage ride in my dream world.... THAT is how I hope to sing through my life. I think that guy that everyone was snickering was really onto something :). Enjoy a little bit of Andrea and Jeremiah.

Mary says: Monday, April 19, 2010, 09:29 AM

Wow..such amazing portraits! I love everything you wrote as well! I always think of a song by Straylight Run (Existentialism on Prom Night) that encourages everyone to sing like no ones listening and I remember driving home late at night from the movies or beach in highschool, no one on the road, hand out the window, past curfew, singing this on the top of my lungs and how free I felt. Your words flooded my mind with that memory. =)

Morgan & Dave are from my hometown in Naperville, IL but I never knew them while I lived there. What is crazy to think is that we were all living within a 10 mile proximity of one another at one time but we never connected until this session together. When these two first began their relationship, Morgan was still living in Chicago and Dave was in Seattle. In an effort to stay connected, they made creative post-it notes of things they wanted to talk about, funny quotes and activities they wanted to do once they were actually living in the same place together. I thought it was such a thoughtful concept, so I had them bring the post-it's to the session and stick them all over their faces :). Each of the notes has unique value and meaning to these two.

Morgan & Dave now call Seattle home and it was my absolute joy and honor to capture them during this season of being engaged. These two are full of life, love and stories and I don't think I've laughed so hard on a session in a long time. I learned (from reading their post-it's) that Morgan, like me, is an ENFP and Dave is an INTJ. What a completely intriguing and perfect combination, the Inspirer meets the scientist :) It's pretty endearing.

These two love anything vintage and derive a lot of inspiration from the things of the past so we really wanted to try to incorporate that into their lifestyle shoot and had a lot of fun in the process. Enjoy a little bit of Morgan & Dave!

I was so excited to wake up and find out two of our recent sessions are featured in some really fun places today :). Kaylee and Johnny's raod trip inspired lifestyle session was featured on the fabulous inspiration blog- Snippit & Ink! And Zac and Karen's vintage books/plaid shirts-and-the-great-outdoors session was featured on Forget me Knot's Inspiration Blog!

AND to top it off the sun finally came out to play this morning which just puts me in the happiest of spirits! This week has not been the grandest for weather in Seattle- I had a very rainy shoot on Monday which I'll post soon :) and had to re-schedule a couple of other shoots :( I hate that! It's like Seattle got confused and decided that it was spring in February and winter in April??? Not fun, but we just have to roll with the punches right?! Yesterday we shot in studio for a little upcoming surprise I have planned. You'll see the outcome of that soon :) For any brides who are looking for great sources of inspiration for planning your wedding check out both of these blogs- they are packed with goodness sure to get the idea's rolling!
