Forrest played the villain in a concept shoot we did for a stylist and some Seattle clothing boutiques this week. He was fantastic... especially considering it was about 35 degrees, windy and rainy for the whole shoot, not exactly ideal conditions ay?
I coveted every suit those boy rocked and wanted secretly to  snag them all for my hubs. Each piece is the art of Like a Rock Star who stitches the fabrics and style of the 70's Stones with the bespoke romanticism of Mod London. These suits are made for the stylish man. The fabric is total gold- and the beautiful part is they make suit jackets in a size 36! So for those with the euro-build like my hubby, Chris, these suits fit like a glove.

I seriously wish men had more excuses to wear a good nicely fitted suit. I think every man needs at least one nice suit to rock. Chris just got a custom suit from Thick as Thieves in L.A. and it is pure yumminess :) Now I'm thinking after shooting some of these threads for Like a Rock Star we may have to take a look at some of their stitches as well.... Now if only we can figure out a way to get invited to fancy-schmancy places that give him a better excuse to rock a suit.

Enjoy a little bit of Forrest in Like a Rock Star threads.

He reminds me of that strange guy from "Back to the future" that is Michael J Fox father named "Mc Fly" He looks just like that guy. That actor also played in "charlie angels" the guy with the cane that was a sword in the alley scene.

While we were in New York we had the pleasure of testing with a couple of fantastic Wilhelmina models, Marissa and Brae. This was such a fun lifestyle shoot to execute. We had a great crew on board and we had a super short time frame to make everything come together so it was very high energy! Chris and I ended up shooting this entire test in about 40 minutes. You can always tell the true character of people when you put them in a high pressure situation and I was so impressed with how the talent and crew preformed in such a time crunch.

We concepted this around two New York girlfriends having fun, enjoying life, hopping in a cab and going out on the town. To see the full story you can go here. When we pulled over the cabbie to get the cab shots he was all giddy because he had two beautiful ladies in the back of his car ;). We asked him to bump some beats for us to rock out to and he was grinning from ear to ear the entire time. It was too cute. So there the four of us were... the cabbie, Marissa, Brae and me rockin' out in the cab to Black Eyed Peas "Imma Be". Hands down the highlight of my day!

And the fantastic crew:

I remember the days of Chris playing at smokey dim lit bars and clubs and being on the road 260 days of the year. Many of you may not know this, but Chris is an incredible bass player. Since his early teens Chris has been on and off the road touring with different bands and working for various record labels as a freelance upright and electric bassist.   When we moved to Seattle about three years ago, life on the road and touring started to become less and less desirable, and our business started to become a passion for him. So for the past two years Chris has been touring less and focusing more on studio work and local projects. All while being full time with our business and loving it. He is a true artist and his ability to bring creative vision whether through music or a visual medium amazes me.

Although Chris's life on the road was never quite like what's portrayed in this shoot :) there were definitely a couple of guys who stand out in my mind as truly embracing their "front man" status and late night rock lifestyle. The concept for this shoot really came from a place of wanting to capture just an innocent taste of that experience and peek into that lifestyle. You can see the full story from the shoot here: Rock Story

On a side note, we arrived at our hotel in NYC last night. The Standard is by far one of the sickest hotels I have ever stayed at. highly recommend it. I woke up to the most amazing sunrise coming over the buildings... it was magical. Off to meet a new friend at Pastis for brunch!

We're hoping on a jet plane in about an hour to catch our flight to the Big Apple. Excited for our shoot while we are there and to support our buddy Nick Onken at his Photo Trekking book release party and hang out with some of our good friends in the area. But more than anything I'm pumped to try all of these wonderful places that so many of your recommended! Thank you!

We have most of Thursday reserved to explore, eat yummy treats and take photos for ourselves. I have a feeling we picked the right district to stay in, I've been doing a little research of what is right around our hotel in the meat packing district and came across this fantastically designed site: www.meatpacking-district.com -it's totally brilliant. Had to share. Not sure who did the design, but I want to hang out with them and buy them ice cream... because that is what I do when I love you. I buy you ice cream. :)

I promise to take lots of photos and blog throughout the trip. I really enjoyed all of your thoughts on the last post on Inspiration Frequency. All of it reminds me of one of my all time favorite quotes by photographer extraordinaire, Tim Walker, "I don't believe in originality. You take inspiration from whatever moves you and you find your voice in those things." I give a big fat AMEN to that!
