We are so very excited to announce VOICE, a workshop with Chris and me in Australia this year!

About four months ago we were contacted by a beautiful photographer, Christine Pobke, from Australia who was interested in hosting us for a workshop in her hometown of Canberra, Australia. From the moment Christine emailed I felt like we were kindred spirits, and we couldn't be happier to link arms with such a fabulous person & photographer as our host.

We are so passionate about sharing with and encouraging photographers to find their own unique voice as artists and business owners.  It is our belief that everyone has a unique message and voice to share with the world.  Most times, it is just a matter of finding it. Our VOICE workshop will be an experience rich in life, love, photography, inspiration, exploration and creativity.

The concept behind VOICE centers around finding your unique voice as an artist, developing a market niche, staying inspired, being remarkable for your clients, and building a brand experience. VOICE stands for Vision, Openness, Inspiration, Creativity & Experience. During our time together we will dig into developing personal vision, voice, inviting your clients to a space of openness, building a brand experience, and creating work that you are excited & passionate about. We will be covering a variety of topics such as:

  • Finding your VOICE as an artist
  • Shooting
  • Interacting with and posing clients
  • Chemistry with Clients
  • Marketing
  • Building a brand experience
  • Post Processing
  • Pricing
  • Setting up creative shoots
  • making time to shoot for yourself
  • Managing client expectations
  • Blogging
  • Working with available light
  • Workflow
  • Staying Inspired, fresh & Creative
  • Being Remarkable for your clients

*During our time together, Chris and I have a shoot planned where you will be able to watch and see us in action. This will be an opportunity to see how we work in different environments, interact with our couples, and the "behind the scenes" of how we do what we do.

Jip & Megan are the type of people who light up a room. They have this intrinsic joy that radiates from them. It is physically hard not to smile when you are around them :) They see the world for all the possibility and hope that is posses and want to leave it a better place. They see the good in others and they choose to love even when it is hard.

These two got in touch with us about a year ago when they were just in the beginning stages of planning their destination event in Durango, Colorado. They met in Durango as camp counselors and have spent most of their summers there through college, so Durango is a very special place for them. I was so excited when they told me the story of how they met and where their wedding would be because ironically enough, I too was a counselor at the same camp in Durango when I was in college! I love Durango! It is a magical little place in the southwest settled in the mountains. It is beautiful. Megan & Jip had an outdoor wedding with a view that could take your breath away. There is something about the mountains that always puts me in my place and reminds me of how small I am in this giant big creation.

Megan wore her poppy's old cowboy boots for the wedding, they carried such special meaning to her since he wasn't able to be with them at the wedding. These two had a ceremony that was real, deep and so personal. When these two say something you know they mean it. We were so excited & honored to be a part of their big day. Cheers to you Megan & Jip!

My first conversation with Alesa & Brian was filled with talks of passion, soul, life and love. I fell in love with them immediately. These two love till it hurts, and let their hearts lead them through life. Their connection is so honest and real. I'm a firm believer in soulmates because I found mine, and this is a true case of two people finding their soulmate in this life. To see that in a couple is like seeing a glimpse of God himself. It is truly beautiful.

Chris and I feel so honored to be a part of Alesa & Brian's wedding at a private residence in Malibu. The day was perfect. Sunny. Delightful. Moving. Passionate. Inspiring. It was obvious that everyone in attendance loved these two deeply. There were so many moments that just captivated me throughout their day. Alesa's tenderness with her grandmother. The moment Brian's mother saw Alesa and her son for the first time and started to cry. Hearing their vows to one another at the ceremony.

This wedding was like a beautiful cinematic experience. It was similar to the feeling you get after watching a brilliant movie that makes you want to go and do something great with your life. The day started with that silent anticipation, moved into excitement and ended with a joyous party. Celebration would sum up this wedding well. The band they had play was by far the best wedding band we have ever had at an event, West Coast Music Impulse Band. And one of my very favorite California coordinators, Camilla, always makes weddings ten times more fun.

Enjoy Brian & Alesa!

Hope & Joel are a creative powerhouse. These two put together a wedding full of whimsy, bliss and overall charm. When I first talked to Hope she had a clear vision for their day... she wanted vintage elements with an Anthropologie flair, incorporating apple cartons, old books and globes. I was giddy with excitement, there is nothing better than when couples have a vision and go after it. I know that it wasn't easy for them to find all of these beautiful old world pieces, but after a lot of hunting these two came up with some brilliant little gems to incorporate. It was loverly on so many levels :)

Our travel weddings are always fun because they allow us to step outside the canvas of what we know and see a location for the first time. Hope & Joel's wedding was right on the Idaho boarder and the landscape seemed to go on forever. The clouds were brewing with flavor the day of their wedding, they looked like they could cry at any moment. Those are my favorite type of clouds... the ones that are on the verge of something.  We went out into the fields and to an old red barn for their portrait session prior to the ceremony. It was perfect.

These two have become great friends of ours through this process of working with them. Hope can make anyone laugh and her humor is my favorite quality about her.... I believe laughter is one of the greatest gifts you can give a person, and Hope gives it freely. Joel is ambitious and an extremely talented director/videographer. We feel so thankful to know them and be invited into their lives. Enjoy a little bit of Hope & Joel!
