Alex & Doug are candy to the eyes and they are sweet as pie :)
Chris and I had a blast shooting their wedding.  We fell in love with their friends and family who made us both feel like we had been a part of the "family" for a lifetime. My favorite quality about Doug and Alex is that they don't take life too seriously. They know how to kick back and enjoy the ride. These two are "granola's" ;) through and through and love being outdoors, traveling and embracing adventure. After all, adventure is what this life is all about, and Alex and Doug seek it out in their lives. I love that.

These two had an outdoor ceremony on a perfect Seattle day. The trees hugged around us and we could feel the warmth of the sun on our backs. It was casual but thoughtful and people laughed easily.... that is my kind of day. Alex & Doug had a great crew on board to help them make their day amazing. You can check them out below. Enjoy!

Aw, these images bring back wonderful memories for me. This is where I got married! Love the framing with the trees and the emotion you always seem to capture so perfectly.

Oh my goodness. The images you captured in the trees were my favorite! Although all of these were absolutely breathtaking. I felt as if I was following them around to sneak a peek!

The most important thing a wedding photographer can do is reflect in images the love between two beings. You both did this so precisely! Great job!

Moab, Utah is rocking my world.

I'm here with some of my girlfriends who also all happen to be photographers from all over. We pick a random city every year to go to and just spend time together, close up our shops for a week, bond and just take photos for ourselves.

oh. and we ride in hummers on big rocks.... more of that to come but you can check out the trip blog where some of us have been keeping up with our trip.... despite horrible wifi and cell service (which I think is a weird blessing in disguise).

We're staying in a giant cabin in the middle of nowhere that sleeps 20. It has taxidermy everywhere... it creeps me out a little bit but other than that the place is pretty sweet.

i. love. this. place.

i. love. my beautiful friends.

here is just a few....

Carmen Farrell is a great photographer from Toronto who met us in Upstate New York while we were there a couple of weeks ago for a six hour mentor session with us. We were in a super small town in Speculator NY and found a little place to get some ice cream, talk, and dig into Carmen's business.

Chris and I were so excited about Carmen's family portrait focused business. We were immediately inspired by one of her recent lifestyle family shoots and this generated lots of creative ideas that I'm already seeing her run after. We brainstormed some different approaches to her business that will help her stand out in her market and chatted about the importance of paginating our work so that the edit reflects the type of things we want to shoot among a variety of other things ;) These are just a few snaps from our 15 minute mini session with Carmen.

We are heading to L.A. today for Darby & Reece's wedding and then I'm heading to Moab Utah for a girls trip with some of my photographer lady friends for a week! If you want to keep up with some of our adventures you can check out the blog: http://marfatrip.com/

Stephanie & Kylan taught me a lot more about the important things in life at their wedding.
A) I learned to hug better - Kylan might be the worlds greatest hugger. When Kylan hugs someone, he really means it and you can feel the love.
B) I learned to laugh harder- Stephanie comes from a family of people who cherish laughing, like the kind of belly laughs that give you an ab workout. Those are the best kind.
C) I learned to smile bigger - One of my very favorite things about Steph and Kylan is their smiles when they look at one another or hear the other person's name. It is the kind of smile that is uninhibited, rich, and goes from ear to ear. I just LOVE it.
D) I learned a lot about humility - Stephanie & Kylan are the type of people who would take the shirt off their back for just about anyone. They are humble and treat people with compassion, love and understanding.
Bottom line is this, a lot of times you see peoples' true colors on their wedding day. The truth is, Stephanie and Kylan have lots of pretty colors in their rainbow :) We like them a lot. If I were stranded on an island somewhere I would want them with me.

Their wedding was a true reflection of them. It took place at the Lairmont Manor in Bellingham. These two met back in middle school and re-connected in college and well, the rest is history as they say. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony on one of the prettiest days the northwest has ever seen. It was gorgeous and what a magical day it was!
