While we were in New Zealand we met up with Ashley and took some fotos! I've been sitting on these for months so I figured maybe I should throw a few up on the blog today. I've been knee deep in edits, traveling, creative calls for upcoming projects and the whole nine so my blogging has suffered just a bit, but I promise to be better friends.
Last week after I posted the fine art gallery for Japan Relief we raised close to $750 to go towards World Vision disaster relief. So thank you to each of your generous hearts!! I feel so grateful to have such an awesome online community of blog-readers & tweeples who have become friends.
Today I read a really amazing quote by photographer, Christopher Churchill, that I can't help but share, he said, "I would challenge the younger generation to make work with some meaning, work that is hyper authentic, raw and imaginative. Use the camera as a way to wander through whatever world you feel drawn to and do it with integrity, conviction and total disregard for money. Make it pure and the other things will happen." Churchills words really hlt home with me, I feel like in a lot of ways I am re-connecting with that kind of heart in my work. This year I am really trying to follow the passion even if the road doesn't look "easy" or even profitable. I'm starting with doing a personal project that I have wanted to do for some time, but have never been able to justify it because it would require so much time and likely not turn into any profit. This year I am finally going to just do it. If only for feeding my own creative genius. In my experience, when we dedicate our paths to that which we feel excitement and passion for all other things fall into place.
