Katherine & Craig booked us for their Rhode Island wedding almost a year ago. The second I talked to them on the phone I knew this was going to be a great fit. These two are people that value photography as the most important thing at their wedding, they love life, they are passionately in love, they too are artists and they caught the vision behind what Chris and I do. Katherine and Craig are both extremely talented graphic artists and also have a photography business as well. They came into Seattle for the weekend for their engagement session and gave Chris and I complete and total freedom throughout their shoot. They just kept saying, "We trust you guys!" There is no greater feeling than to work with people that trust your creative vision.
These two were staying at the Ace Hotel while they were visiting, so we shot a few in their room and then headed out on a little Seattle adventure around town. Whenever anyone visits Seattle for the first time I feel like it is my duty to show them all the brilliance that this city is made of. I'm proud to say that we're responsible for at least three Seattle converts (i.e. people who were living someplace else and came to visit and left with a signed lease in Seattle). I pretty much want all the people that I love to come out here because once they do they wont ever want to leave... unless of course they come in February :)
I was having a pretty crumby day the day of their shoot (crumby by my melodramatic standards anyway). But once my hands wrapped around my camera it's like all of the small frustrations of my day dissipated and I was given a new perspective. I was so overwhelmingly grateful. We wrapped the shoot and all I could say was "I'M SO SO THANKFUL to be doing what I do!" There are those beautifully clear moments where we are able to see things as they are and we realize that the little frustrations are of no consequential value in the big scheme of things. It is in those transparent moments of truth we are reminded of what matters; family, friends, passion, truth and love. I feel so grateful that every time I pick up my camera I am reminded to be grateful. We have so much to be grateful for :)

Beautifully written and captured as always. You make the rest of us photogs think. I take so much from every word you write, and I have snippets of those things littering my fridge, walls, binders, etc. Thank you both for what you do and share.
