These are two of my lovely friends, Kristy & Kelly at dusk-time. These were shot back in October of this year on our trip to Bend, OR with a group of some other fabulous lady photographer friends. These frames were shot right after the sun tucked itself behind a big Oregon mountain and it became dusk. The sky was beautiful, big, and glowing.... it was magical. The three of us were driving back to our cabin with the windows down, the brisk fall air kissing our faces while we blasted the liberating tunes of Ane Brun and let our souls sing as loud as hers. We decided it would be only appropriate to take a spontaneous detour to an open field to capture the beauty that was all around us. When I look back on the trip this was a highlight, playing in the fields with my friends and with the deer at dusk :)

Dusk is one of my favorite times to shoot. I used to be scared to shoot in it... Shooting wide open at slow shutters and high ISO's used to intimidate me (these images were shot at a 1.2 or a 1.4 at a 1/60th(ish) shutter). But now? Now, I adore it. There is very little you can do in photoshop to replicate the feeling of being wrapped in the allure of the sun saying goodbye and the night saying hello at dusk-time. Dusk is a beautiful short window, but that short window brings a light like any other light I've ever seen.

I'm thankful for my wonderful fellow photographer girlfriends Kristy and Kelly.... Kristy is off living a life of beautiful indulgence in Italy currently... and secretly I envy her to pieces for it; although Lord knows I would come back 40 pounds overweight if I went to live over there. I have a slight obsession with breads and Italian food. And Kelly is one of those fearless creatives who steps out in faith with very little question, I admire that about her. She just came out with her new photography bag, the Kelly Moore bag that will release sometime in the next couple of months, her blog will have some more info on it but it's pretty rad.

We are heading to L.A. this morning, to shoot our final wedding of the year on Friday. We're going a couple days early to hang out with our friends, Mark and Candice. So it should be good times. I'll be glad to have sun on my face in CA again :). I cannot believe it is the end of November! Time is flying so quickly and I can't wait for turkey day!
