So this is part deux of the shoot we did with Rhylie & Levon at the Laundromat. After we finished those shots we decided that on a Sunny Saturday in Seattle it was only appropriate that we all treat ourselves to some of the best ice cream on the planet at Molly Moons. We discovered that they opened up a new store location over in Capitol Hill so we hit it up and feasted on some scoops of Scout Mint and Balsamic Strawberry goodness. It was to.die. for.

Anyone who knows me well knows that ice cream is the way to my heart. One summer I went backpacking around Europe with one of my best friends and I swear we spent all of our money on gelato ice cream. It's the best investment I made in my life. No regrets. It's amazing I didn't come back 30 lbs heavier. I have a feeling that my love for ice cream can be traced back to my dad taking me and my sis on random trips to various custard places around the Chicago area as a kid. Needless to say, I now consider myself an expert on great ice cream and Molly Moons falls into the great category. Now if only someone could develop an ice cream that you could enjoy in the winter... like a hot cream of sorts? I've been thinking about this all winter but still can't get my mind around it ;)

What up lifestyle catalog. Your stuff should be in a Target advertising campaign or somewhere else where they pay the big bucks. Keep the inspiration coming...

Album design is such an important part of our workflow. Over the years, we have spent hours upon hours designing unique and award winning books our couples. We were ecstatic to walk away with two international album awards this year at the WPPI album competition this year for our designs! We have received several e mails from photographers expressing interest in template options for our designs and although we have never offered them in the past we're putting them out into the world today. We are very excited to let you know we will be offering Sarah Rhoads Custom Templates through our friends over at H20 Creative!!

Teaming with H20 seemed like a match made in heaven because they too believe in the use of Adobe InDesign to make photographers lives easier when it comes to Album design. If there is one piece of advice I can give ANY photographer who is designing albums it would be  to take a couple hours and learn InDesign. This is a program specifically designed for making layout whereas Photoshop is a program designed for photo enhancement and manipulation which is why it takes double the time to design an album in photoshop. Using InDesign has cut our album design time in half. Not to mention, the designs are of much higher quality because of it. InDesign makes alignment easy and designing fun. H20 has tons of free tutorials on using InDesign. So Check them out and pick up some of our CLEAN Album Templates! Enjoy!

Love the template. Would love to use for a birth photography album. Wondering if there is a Cover included in the template? Or are these just pages? Thanks

This shoot was an absolute blast! It was my first experience having an epic clothing fight in a random laundromat. We got quite a few "What the hell?" stares from the innocent bystanders just trying to do their Saturday laundry :) We definitely gave people an entertaining show while they waited for their laundry to dry. I had to come back to the laundromat after the shoot because I had forgotten one of my shirts in a dryer, and the owner of the shop said after we left everyone was amazed that those beautiful people wanted their photos taken in a laundromat. I had to laugh. :)

We worked with a great little crew for this shoot. It was our first time to work with stylist-extraordinaire, Osiris, so her, Chris and I came up with the concept for the shoot and she worked her styling and wardrobe magic. The models were absolutely fantastic as well. When I was going to Target the morning of the shoot to pick up a bright colored laundry basket, I happened to look up at one of the Ads on the wall and low and behold I see beautiful little Rhylie looking down at me. After we hit the laundry mats we decided to go get some ice cream at my favorite Ice Cream place in Seattle, Molly Moon's, more of those to come in a later post. May these put a little smile on your face this Monday!

If I was a judge, and you were a contestant, I'd give this shoot a "10!" Any photo editor would be at a loss to cut any of these images... they are all super!

We love the opportunities we get to work with SPU. We are huge fans of the university. Our intern, Marissa, goes to school there. One of the designers we work with, Tyler, graduated from SPU and we've been involved with their mentor program for the past couple of years. Bottom line, they are great clients of ours and we are so thrilled to be able to link arms with them.

A couple of weeks ago I got the most recent ETC magazine that we shot for in the mail and we were so excited to see our shoot with Taylor Neal and our shoot with Kristy as full spreads. These are just a couple of tear sheets from the magazine that I thought I would share today. It's always so good to see the work in tactile form. I feel like I spend so much time looking at our images on computer screens. There is nothing better than being able to touch and feel it and see your work printed with quality and care.

Today is Friday, I can hardly believe how quickly this week has flown. Chris and I are going to be spending the weekend packing- joy! (sarcasm) :) We're going to be moving this month and there is A LOT of work to be done between now and then.

So fun to see work in print. Looks great!

Adam says: Friday, May 7, 2010, 10:00 AM

I totally agree on the tactile bit! At least shooting some film, you can hold the odd neg in your hand!

I think I'm more excited about some of my prints going up in a birth center than most of my other work this summer!

(SPU rocks btw!)

Rick Wenner says: Friday, May 7, 2010, 09:18 AM

Congrats on the tears! These all look great.
